Personal Luxury Cars | Minor updates to Mini Cooper leaked

2011 Mini Cooper

If loose lips truly sank ships, the interwebs would be at the bottom of the Pacific. A few shots of the 2011 Mini Cooper and Cooper S have hit the web courtesy of the keen-eyed crew at MotoringFile. As you might expect, Mini isn't exactly walking away from the iconic shape that has dominated the brand since it hit the scene a few short years ago. Instead, it looks like we'll be seeing (very) slightly reworked front fascias with something of a smiley face treatment and a host of LED lighting.

From what we can tell from these few leaked brochure photos, it looks like we can expect a few new colors to hit the Cooper pallete as well. The base Cooper will be available dipped in Spice Orange and the Cooper S will boast a powder blue hue in addition to the spectrum already available for the car. So far, we're not quite sure what to expect in terms of power or drivetrain additions, but our guess is things will continue to stay pretty much the same for 2011.

Personal Luxury Cars | Mahindra sued by U.S. distributor over pickup delays

Mahindra Pik-Up

According to the Hindustan Times, Global Vehicles, the Atlanta-based company that is slated to be the exclusive U.S. distributor for Mahindra & Mahindra vehicles, alleges that more than $95 million has been spent on getting the country ready to buy the Indian Pik-Ups. The problem is, and has been, that Mahindra still hasn't provided any vehicles to sell. The Indian company is waiting on paperwork and testing for EPA approval to sell the trucks here.

GV is tired of waiting idly, and has brought a lawsuit against Mahindra for having missed two soft deadlines and two hard ones. GV claims the delay has been "inordinate," Mahindra says the lawsuit is "without merit." We say that no matter who's right, this is not the way to bring a truck to market.

Personal Luxury Cars | 2011 Honda CR-Z

2011 Honda CR-Z

Let's get this out of the way right now: the 2011 Honda CR-Z is not a CRX redux. To compare the two – no matter how much Honda may want to – is to misunderstand the former and besmirch the latter.

No, the hybrid CR-Z is an entirely different beast. Despite its three-door shape and two-seat configuration, it has about as much in common with the O.G. hatch as a big-screen remake of your favorite childhood TV show. The basic components are there, but the whole concept has been throttled to within an inch of its life with high-tech gadgetry, odd casting decisions and a questionable demographic.

But to Honda's credit, its rhetorical comparisons to the CRX have died down considerably since the CR-Z debuted in concept form and then progressed into a production model. Honda may have recognized after a lukewarm introduction outside the U.S. that glomming onto nostalgia will only get you so far (see: Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro). And to make something special – a vehicle that transcends the emotional baggage of its predecessor – you've got to evolve the concept and avoid relying on rose-tinted sentimentality.

To an extent, that's exactly what Honda has created. It hasn't built another hot hatch – the lightweight, K20-powered three-door enthusiasts crave – and instead it has attempted to meld the technology of the moment into a greenified competitor to the Mini Cooper. Think of it as the rogue lovechild of the original and current Insight, with a few sporting genes spliced into its DNA. But can a hybrid hatch be an entertaining steer? We took to California's twisties and clipped a few cones to find out.

If you were completely smitten by the CR-Z concept from the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, the retail model may leave you a bit cold. Viewed side-by-side, the basic elements are there – high hatch, wedge shape, massive snout – but as with so many designs rotating on pedestals, everything's been watered down in the production process.

The deeply recessed grille and its center mounted "H" have been dispatched for a more pedestrian-friendly nose, while the blistered fenders, glass roof and aggressive haunches have all been relegated to the designer's trash bin. We won't call it neutered, nor will we result to the roller-skate cliche, but the CR-Z's 16-inch wheels (the only hoops available) and higher ride height have laid to waste the concept's edgy aggressiveness. And the first time a state-mandated front license plate is fitted, crouching Bugs Bunny references won't be far behind.

On the positive side, the blacked-out A- and B-pillars combined with the highly contoured windshield and greenhouse provide a pleasant wrap-around effect, while the high, split-glass hatch and triangular taillamps lend the CR-Z a more purposeful stance. The visibility afforded by the thinner A-pillars – something that's largely absent on modern vehicles – is a breath of fresh air, but on the flip side, the tall hatch and massive C-pillars make lane-changes a double- then triple-check affair.

Viewed as a whole (and if you hadn't seen the concept), it's a smart, youthful design with dozens of subtle stylistic elements that catch your eye over time. The only thing that's obviously missing is a visible exhaust outlet – something akin to the integrated exhaust tips on the Euro-market Civic would've been a nice touch.

The interior does a better job of tipping you off to the CR-Z's sporting pretenses, beginning with a pair of sufficiently bolstered seats and a small diameter steering wheel. All the controls are canted towards the driver, including the optional sat-nav, standard climate controls and drive mode selectors. The dash doesn't extend as far forward as we would have expected given the steeply raked windshield, nor does it completely encompass the occupants (note the odd cliff-face on the passenger side of the dash).

Mercifully, Honda has decided to ditch the Civic's two-tiered instrument panel for a center-mounted pseudo-3D tach with a technicolor digital speedo mounted in the middle. Battery and charge status, shift indicator, fuel level and real-time consumption flank the sides and look both futuristic and slightly half-baked. If you must, think of it as a low-rent version of the Ferrari 458 Italia's driver command center, complete with a user-customizable Multi-Information Display for standard trip readings, along with an Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) flow indicator, "Eco Guide and Eco Scoring" and exterior temperature reading.

Fit and finish is on par with anything from Honda in the $20,000-25,000 segment, with soft-touch materials lining the major touch points and an interesting vacuum-formed metal coating the door handles (an industry first). The rear cargo area was obviously designed with kid seats in mind for the European and Japanese market, but in the U.S. we get a pair of recessed, carpeted plastic trays in their stead. The upright panel can be folded down to expand the standard 25.1 cubic feet of cargo space, although the only way to fold or snap it into place is to move the front seat forward and reach through the door opening. Thankfully, it's a single-handed affair.

With all the techno-tidbits available inside (along with standard USB audio and a 12V power source), oddly, our favorite interior feature came in the form of a configurable cargo cover. You can mount the vinyl overlay in three different ways to either completely obscure the cargo area or leave it open for luggage, golf bags or small bodies. But the third setup – humorously dubbed "Secret Mode" – creates a small parcel area at the very end of the hatch to hold smaller items (grocery bags, laptop and camera cases) so they won't shuffle around during spirited sprints. Speaking of which...

If you're not already aware, the CR-Z's roots are based on the new-for-2010 Insight hatch. You can groan now if you wish, but take solace in the fact that Honda has managed to shorten the wheelbase to 95.8 inches, widen the track to 59.6 inches in front and 59.1 inches in the rear, with a total length of 160.6 inches. MacPherson struts work in concert with 18-mm front and rear stabilizer bars, and the whole setup has been fitted to a suitably taut chassis. The bad news: We're stuck with a torsion-beam suspension in the rear. The worse news: the curb weight comes in between 2,637 and 2,707 pounds depending on the transmission and equipment levels. For reference, the four-passenger, five-door Insight tips the scales at 2,734 pounds, which isn't much difference at all.

As you'd expect, Honda's focus lies on the CR-Z's Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system and its 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder pulled from the Fit. In the five-door runabout, the four-pot is good for 117 horsepower and 106 pound-feet of torque, but combined with the IMA system's Ni-Mh battery and brushless DC motor, Honda rates the CR-Z with the six-speed manual at 122 hp at 6,000 RPM and 128 lb-ft of torque from a deceivingly shallow 1,000 to 1,750 RPM. Honda says the electric motor is good for 13 hp and 58 lb-ft of twist on its own, so we're not entirely sure how the maths work out on that. We've left it to our engineering-savvy Mr. Abuelsamid to parse out the details, so let's get to the driving.

Judged by the stats alone, we started up the CR-Z with more than mild trepidation. In the Fit, the 1.5-liter isn't exactly an inspired engine and sadly, that hasn't changed in this application. The engine note is more hotel-grade Oreck than the manic, high-revving Hondas of yore, and as you move up through the rev-range, the wasps under the hood get angrier but fail to deliver a sting.

With the traction control switched off, the IMA delivers just enough torque to spin the tires when you launch around 3,000 RPM. Acceleration through the first two gears is on the high-side of acceptable as the four-pot strains towards its 6,500 RPM redline, but by the time you reach third, most of the steam has escaped the engine bay. Our best guesstimate on a 0-60 mph time is somewhere in the 10-second range. Hardly stirring, but not unexpected.

However, off-the-line performance isn't the CR-Z's forte. If Honda's "Hybrid Cafe Racer" line is to be believed, this hatch's true calling is in the canyons. And here, a faint light shines through.

In Normal and Eco mode, the CR-Z trundles along as you'd expect; a lazy commuter focused on efficiency. However, press the Sport button and the steering and throttle tighten. Inputs are more direct as you crank the quick ratio steering (2.5 turns lock-to-lock) and the shifter effortlessly slips through the gears. The six-speed manual tranny is slightly notchier than other Honda 'boxes, but it inspires you to row up and down the ratios to find the meat of the powerband. Lay into the throttle in third or fourth and there's more noise than motivation, but when the first corner appears, the brakes haul down the CR-Z at a decent clip. On the road, brake fade remained absent, but during a few hot laps around a makeshift autocross course, pedal feel got progressively mushier as we pushed harder and braked later, particularly when attempting to stop in a cordoned-off cone box.

Steering is typical Honda: direct, if slightly overboosted. Initial turn-in and mild mid-corner corrections were encouraging, as is the additional weight of the rear-mounted battery pack, allowing the CR-Z to rotate quicker than other short-wheelbase three-doors we've sampled. That additional pounds and 60:40 weight split inspired confidence through high-speed sweepers, but the downside is a fair amount of body roll through trickier, twistier bits and a penchant for understeer without a good flick of the wheel or a fair amount of trail-braking.

We only had a brief stint in a CVT-equipped model, and the seamlessness of the start-stop system in the manual version was replaced with a more abrupt shudder when switching back on from a stop – exactly as we've experienced on the Insight. As with most CVTs, the "elastic band" sensation is there, albeit slightly more refined, holding the revs at around 6,000 rpm when matting the throttle and allowing you to shift through seven faux ratios when the mood strikes you. As you'd expect, the manual is easily the more sporting setup, but Honda estimates somewhere between 70 and 75 percent of all CR-Z's will be equipped with the quasi-automatic. Which brings up the obvious question: Who's the CR-Z for?

If we were a cynical bunch, we'd assume it's yet another vehicle designed to improve overall CAFE ratings. And with fuel economy ratings of 36/39 mpg city/highway with the CVT and 31/37 on the manual model, it's certainly going to help. But that's too easy. If you believe Honda, it's estimating that the average buyer will be a style and eco-conscious consumer between 25 and 35, smitten by the small size and blue Hybrid badge on the boot. That we can almost buy, particularly given that Honda will be pricing the base model under $20,000 and the fully-kitted EX with Navi will slide in under $24,000 when it goes on sale August 24. But is it an enthusiast's vehicle? Hardly. With more power, bigger brakes and a more sophisticated suspension (we're sure Hasport is working on a engine mount kit as you read this), this could've been the CRX for the 21st century. Instead, it's a capable fuel miser that can muster some sport when summoned. Unsurprising, but disappointing nonetheless.

Personal Luxury Cars | Volkswagen goes soft-roading with new CrossPolo

2012 Volkswagen CrossPolo

Smaller cars may be taking over from larger SUVs around the world, but that hardly means that the go-anywhere, rough-and-tumble image of the sport-ute has disappeared from buyers' minds. That's where softroaders come in. Vehicles like the Volkswagen CrossPolo blend off-road styling with a small form factor.

VW gave us a sneak peek at the new CrossPolo back in Geneva, but is only officially revealing the full range now. Based on the new Polo hatchback, the CrossPolo gets a boost in ride height and some tasteful body cladding to give it that backcountry appeal. A new front end – treated in dark gray and blending into the wheel arches, quarter panels and rear bumper – plus 17-inch alloys and roof rails complete the package, which can be ordered by non-U.S. types with six engine options – three gasoline and three diesels – in any of six exterior shades, including two colors unique to the CrossPolo.

Personal Luxury Cars | World's largest car collection closer to being under one roof

Rendering of the main hall at the LeMay America's Car Museum

If you've ever wondered who has the largest private car collection in the world, wonder no more. Until his death in 2000, Harold E. LeMay had the distinction of laying claim to that title with over 3,000 classic vehicles in his possession. His gems included everything from a 1916 Abadal Buick to a 1983 DeLorean DMC 12 and pretty much everything in between. Just before LeMay passed away, he formed a non-profit group with the goal of building a massive museum to house his collection and educate the public on the impact and evolution of the automobile.

LeMay's vision for the garage to end all garages was no less grand than his collection – a massive steel and arched glass structure designed by Alan Grant of Grant Architects. After a decade of fundraising by LeMay's widow and a number of grants from state and local governments, the LeMay America's Car Museum officially broke ground this week. The project is expected to cost a total of $100 million when completed, and will feature complete educational exhibits in addition to showcasing the collection. For more information on the cars and the museum, be sure to check out the LeMay Museum site.

Personal Luxury Cars | Toyota FT-86 to be called FR-S when it reaches production?

Toyota FT-86 Concept

It's been awhile since we've heard anything on the tasty little Toyota FT-86 Concept, but it looks like we may finally have an idea of what the car will be called when it hits showrooms. If the rumors buzzing around the Toyobaru forums are to be believed, the Japanese manufacturer won't resurrect any of its fabled names from the company's past. Instead, it's possible that the sportscar may carry an FR-S badge. Toyota just filed a trademark application for the name, so there's a good chance that this particular internet whisper may have some meat to it.

We haven't completely decided where we stand on the FR-S name, partly because we had become so accustomed to calling the front-engine, rear-wheel drive heathen the FT-86. In the end, though, we don't really care what's on the car's badges so long as it makes it to production as an affordable, strong-performing coupe. Toyota could use something with a pulse in a big way, and a spiritual successor to the AE-86 Corolla would be just the ticket.

Personal Luxury Cars | Chrysler Sebring convertible to survive

Chrysler Sebring Convertible

Much to our collective surprise, Chrysler's new Italian overlords have reportedly decided to keep the Sebring convertible alive and even give it a major refresh early next year. The Sebring and Dodge Avenger sedans are due to get their updates before the end of this year, and the Sebring could yet receive a new name. Most of those changes including reworked suspensions and improved interiors, and the company's new Pentastar V6 will migrate into the droptop in the new year.

As you may recall, back in the 1990s, the Sebring was consistently the top-selling convertible in America thanks to its reasonable price, relatively attractive styling and seating for four. The current model completely squandered that advantage by combining all the negative aspects of its sedan counterpart with a highly compromised design that includes three different tops including vinyl and canvas soft tops and a very finicky folding hardtop. So why keep the Sebring convertible around? According to AllPar, it's because they remain a favorite of rental fleets in warm weather states thanks to "move-em-out" pricing from Chrysler and demand for four-seat convertibles from vacationers.

Sports Car Accessories | All About Exotic Sports Cars

For many owning a sports car is a lifelong goal they aspire to. Even as children we are almost programmed to turn and look at the beautiful sleek sports car as it cruises through the town. Sports cars are the zenith of motoring and something which people dedicate their lives to. Benetton shops were created purely to fund one man's love for racing and that is just one well known example.

Everyone can name at least one sports car, Ferrari's, Porsches, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus and Lamborghini to name just a few. So what is the appeal of such unobtainable cars? Sports cars aren't for convenience or practicalities; they are purely made to be beautiful and luxurious. Why is it that so many of our own screen hero's don't drive practical 4x4's or be economically friendly and cycle? Can we really picture James Bond turning up to save the world in a 5 door hatchback? No. Sports cars do exactly what they say on the tin. They are fast; they only hold 2 people and don't worry about space for things like groceries.

Sports cars were initially manufactured for the affluent classes as the "ordinary" cars of the day were dull and boring and practical. Sports cars provided the luxury of speed, safety and comfort. With ordinary cars becoming better looking, more comfortable and safer and the sports cars becoming economically unsound the market is dropping. People are driving now not for pleasure but because they have to. Public transport is becoming more expensive and with town and cities spreading ever wider and wider the need to drive is becoming more prevalent. For those who buying a car is not a necessity but a pleasure, you can complete your man about town image by buying the latest fashion and accessories from Armani, Brioni (Suit maker for James Bond), BOSS, Kiton and Ralph Lauren or expensive cigars and watches like Cartier and Breitling from some of web sites that offer these products at more reasonable prices.

Hopefully, sometime soon we will remember why we love the dream of sports cars and forget our practical hatchbacks.

Personal Luxury Cars | Nissan Leaf will break the EV silence with a digital whistle

Nissan Leaf EV soundNissan Leaf EV sound

As we get closer to seeing significant numbers of electric vehicles come to market, various standards are starting to emerge that cover things like how these vehicles are to be charged and how to measure range and equivalent mileage. One feature that remains up in the air is the sound signature of electric vehicles. For years, EV advocates have touted the silent operation of battery-powered vehicles as a bonus.

However, advocates for the blind and safety regulators are pushing for electric vehicles to produce some audible alert that indicates their presence. According to Just-Auto, beginning next week, Nissan will be bringing in 500 people including media, government officials and customers who have signed up to buy the Leaf to drive the car at its Oppama, Japan test track.

Among other things, they will be evaluating the "approaching vehicle sound" that will be used for the Leaf and Fuga (Infiniti M37) hybrid. Nissan is testing a system that produces external sounds that sweep across a range of frequencies to insure that almost anyone can hear it. The sound will also vary depending on whether the car is accelerating or decelerating.

Personal Luxury Cars | King Abdullah greenlights Gazal 1 to become first Saudi-made car

The KSU Gazal 1

The very first car designed and built in Saudi Arabia is officially a reality. King Abdullah unveiled the production Gazal 1 at a special ceremony yesterday and congratulated everyone who participated in the vehicle's development on a job well done. As you may recall, the Gazal 1 was a special project created by the students at King Saud University. Though built off the bones of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the KSU kids penned the exterior and reworked the interior to accommodate Saudi Arabia's notoriously brutal climate and demanding terrain.

When we saw the original Gazal 1 design study at this year's Geneva Motor Show, we thought the vehicle looked pretty good, especially considering how little experience the SUV's designers had in bringing a full-scale vehicle to life. From what we can tell, it looks like the production version has stuck fairly close to the big green model we saw back in March. That means the Toyota FJ Cruiser-style roof has made its way into reality along with the very International grille.

It works for us, especially considering the go-anywhere Mercedes-Benz components bolted underneath. No one's said what's under the hood of the Gazal 1, but we're guessing the same 382-horsepower 5.5-liter V8 from the standard G550 is a good bet.

Luxury Car Features | Acura Integra - The Perfect Luxury Car

Most of the individuals who are looking forward to buy Acura Integra are generally drawn towards this specific car for two particular reasons i.e. the car has a luxurious sports appeal and yet comes at an affordable price. Integra is the car which was initially able to draw a large number of customers towards the Acura brand and thus making the luxury cars wing of Honda extremely successful worldwide.

Designing strategy:

Most of the people believe that the dramatic design of Acura Integra has been greatly inspired from Honda's earlier version of luxury sedan i.e. Civic. Acura Integra was dramatically redesigned in 1994 and possessed several new features, such as dual air bags, compact Integra 2-door hatchback coupe and another 4-door notchback. When the car was first launched in 1987, it was surrounded with a lot of frenzy and hype. Needless to say, after several modifications and years, this car has been able to prove its worth.

Acura Integra is a highly successful car today which comes in several models and versions. Some of the most prominent Acura Integra models can be defined on three levels i.e. base RS, luxury LS and the sporty GS-R. All the Acura Integra models comprise of 4-wheel disc brakes. However, the feature of anti-lock braking is available only in luxury LS and sporty GS-R.

How much would it cost?

One of the main reasons which led Acura Integra to become an immensely successful phenomenon was its apt pricing. Acura Integra price was based on several strategies in a bid to make it successful in the market. Although this car fell under the luxury section, its price was set several thousand dollars lower than the standard $25,000 which was being charged for other luxury cars.

This apt pricing has even led some car enthusiasts to name Acura Integra as a car which instead of being called a luxury car can more prominently be known as a car which is well-equipped, easy-to-tune, fun-to-drive and better qualifies as a sports coupe.

Features:

In terms of its performance, Acura Integra is fitted with pretty decent features, such as standard air conditioning and a 195 horsepower engine. A standard model of Acura Integra comes pre equipped with a standard antitheft engine immobilizer and 100,000- mile tune-up intervals.

Acura Integra is an apt car for individuals who are looking forward to a car which is better engineered, comes from the family of prestigious Honda, is aptly priced yet gives them the status of a luxury sports car.

Luxury Car Features | The Safest Luxury Cars to Insure

Considering the exorbitant prices of most luxury cars, it's a veritable godsend for many cash-strapped consumers when genius car manufacturers have invented cars worth their sticker prices.

Thus it strips off the word luxury, bearing the meaning that it holds up to its name because of its price and nothing else.

Today, prominent car manufacturers like BMW and AUDI had been ravishing the limelight after they received recognition from Consumer Reports on its latest models.

The cars were among the safest cars on the road.

BMW 330i's general safety features that placed it on the top of the list are panic button alarm, side guard door beams, and child-safety door locks.

It is also equipped with driver airbags, a passenger air bag cutoff switch or sensor, a passenger airbag, front side airbag, and side head curtain airbags. The second row side airbag is optional.

For added protection, the BMW 330i is equipped with anti- theft prevention features. These features are the selective locking or unlocking feature, the locking fuel filler door or cap, valet lockout, and the vehicle anti-lockout device.

It is equipped with a stability control that effectively protects the driver from any swerving or uncontrolled motion.

Moreover, because of the many incidences wherein sudden inflation of airbags had caused accidents, mostly children, BMW 330i airbags are endowed with smart dual-thresholds, sensor, and dual-stage deployment that curb any airbags inflation that were uncalled for.

On the other hand, the Audi A4 luxury car also speaks of genuine craftsmanship.

The safety break features enable the Audi A4 to safeguard its occupants in the event that an accident happens or whenever the road becomes slippery.

A dual-stage and dual-threshold airbag supplemental restraints with occupant sensors were also provided.

It also has a new system of seat belts management and usability that features a safer way of employing seat belts while on the road.

Plus, it has child-friendly safety features like LATCH or the lower anchorage and tethers for children system situated at the rear seats, and child safety rear door locks.

With all these safety features, no wonder they were among the safest cars on the road. This is not just mere recognition for most buyers but also a way of saving more money when getting insurance.

It is because most auto insurance companies charge lower premium rates to drivers who drive safe cars. There are also auto insurance companies that offer additional anti-theft or vehicle tracking discounts.

Moreover, cars, like the ones mentioned, who performed well on car crash tests will keep you safe in an accident and as a side benefit most likely get you lower auto insurance premiums.

Luxury Car Features | What Luxury Car Brand Suits You?

Take a look around you, especially on the road. You will see a swarm of luxury cars from major car manufacturers gracing the streets. Whether cars have become cheaper or people are earning more money is a different discussion altogether. We are only interested in knowing what modern luxury car brand appeals to what kind of buyer.

Automobile market has been segmented according to buyer preferences. Cars belonging to the same segment will essentially have almost the same features with the only differentiating factor being the family they come from. Most major car manufacturers represent some buyer perceptions and it is the typical character associated with their brand name that compels the buyer to make a choice between vehicles that have very few differentiating factors.

If we focus on just three of the major car manufacturers, we would realize that they manage to produce similar luxury vehicles in order to cater to the market segments and yet maintain a unique character in those vehicles that is specific to their make and symbolizes their brand.

Mercedes - Benz: Arguably the most famous luxury car maker in the world, The Merc as it is affectionately called represents a prime example of German engineering. Being one of the first luxury cars in the world, Mercedes has a unique niche in the automobile world and its name symbolizes classic styling, grand presence and fine-tuned performance. The historical three-pointed Mercedes logo is the stuff most people dream about.

Mercedes maintains a unique character in all of their vehicles. Their vehicles are a blend of luxury, classic design, and attention-to-detail. Some people say that you can recognize a Mercedes from a mile away. Mercedes manufactures vehicles catered to different segments of the market and even while conforming to the requirements of a particular segment their vehicles don't shy away from displaying a character that is so uniquely Mercedes.

The Pundits say that your favorite luxury car is a Mercedes if you prefer stability in life and like to play it safe. That is probably the image Mercedes represents in the market today. People associate class with Mercedes and usually their vehicles are centered on a theme that oozes royalty. Since it is the most established luxury brand with a great reputation, buyers who like to trust the tradition and go with the flow are the ones who prefer a Mercedes.

BMW: These sharp looking double-grilled vehicles have a unique image in the market symbolizing the essence of performance in a vehicle. This is another German brand that is famous world over for cars that feature cutting edge dynamics and impeccable performance with unmatched styling. BMW stresses on performance and joy of driving in their vehicles. Their vehicles symbolize muscle and raw power. BMW styling is unique and what they make today, others make tomorrow. This is one brand preferred by buyers who like trills and love to take risks in life. It is for the aggressors who like to announce themselves when they arrive. Trendy would be the appropriate term for these vehicles as opposed to the classy Merc.

Audi: Although many would argue over the fact that Audi is not in the same league as the two stalwarts listed above, there are facts that suggest that Audi is even overpowering the two traditional rivals in terms of luxury car sales all over the world. Again a German brand, Audi has emerged as the choice of the young and the fearless. People who dare to think beyond established norms are going for the Audi. It is a breakaway from the tradition and that's what these people want. Audi cars are designed exquisitely and they represent the influence of latest technology over traditional machinery. These performance oriented cars are sporty and appeal to the modern buyer who is self-made, competent and confident. Modern ground-breaking styling and technology is probably the hallmark of Audi and they maintain it as their USP.

In my opinion, your choice of a luxury car truly depends on the character you associate with a brand name and its resemblance to that of your own. The opinion of the masses also proves to be a significant influence in your decision. Since there is very little to choose between luxury car models, it is your perception about the brand name that ultimately results in your choice.

Luxury Car Features | Luxury Car Quotes

Determining exactly what constitutes a luxury car gets tricky because the criteria seem to vary. For example, you may define it according to a certain price range or manufacturer, or the technological and comfort features a vehicle offers. Nowadays there are also more than just cars to consider...luxury now abounds in many SUVs, wagons, compacts, and even pick-up trucks.

Remember the old saying, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? Luxury varies by individual, so let's define a luxury car as one that offers the most in the way of convenience, creature comforts, and drivability to a specific driver. Entry-level luxury cars can cost in the neighborhood of $35,000 to $40,000.

This category attracts people who want the prestige that comes from driving vehicles made by automobile makers known for high quality. Examples include Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Cadillac, and Lincoln, to name just a few. Some manufacturers not generally considered producers of luxury cars also make high-end models with enough bells and whistles to be considered luxurious.

In any event, comfort, convenience, and great engineering in varying degrees ultimately determine luxury. Things such as quality leather seats, thick, lush carpeting, real wood trim, quiet, stabilized ride, a solid build, and a smoothly purring engine with enough power to never be sluggish constitute luxury for most drivers. In this age of technology, each year brings a new tool, and now we can navigate by watching an in-dash screen, listen to incredible sound systems that completely surround us in the car; and even let our cars parallel park themselves. Even more importantly - safety features continue to evolve as well.

Luxury Car Features | Luxury Car Leasing - Go For the Functional High End Vehicle

In these modern days of fast and flashy automobiles, a lot of people certainly love to drive high end vehicles. But then many are wanting of cash for such luxuries. Others still are able to realize their dream of driving one with the use of luxury car leasing.

What is luxury auto leasing? When it comes to high end vehicle lease schemes, definitely the best car lease deals are those autos that can hold their value. With this important fact to consider, people should be able to single out some truths concerning residual values, ones that apply consistently to high end auto leasing.

Remember that to work for luxury car leasing, one has to mind resale values. The determining factor of resale values is simply the public perception about the auto brand and not the reliability rating numbers obtained mainly in quality surveys. Take for example the luxury vehicle Jaguar, it is rated generally as an brand. However, because of the doubting reliability perception within the public, the car takes a dip at the term end when it comes to its value.

High tech features and options as well as amazing cutting edge functions do not automatically mean the automobile will fare excellently. When the times comes that your car is older, better and less expensive auto systems will render its many supposedly high tech function now obsolete.

When getting a luxury car leasing, you must be more attentive to the more useful functions and features, like the power windows, auto transmissions and power wheel drive. Such features are sure to enhance the value of your auto in the used car arena. As it is, second hand vehicle purchasers see luxury vehicles, even those that come with exciting and enticing incentives, less favorably simply because they are perceived strongly as questionable in reliability and quality.

Luxury Car Features | Should You Buy a Luxury Car?

Well-off people normally have more than one car. They have cars for work and they have cars for special occasions. The special occasion cars are usually luxury cars that cost several times as much as a regular sedan. The question is should you be buying luxury cars at all?

Some people prefer luxury cars over a sedan. And there are simply too many cars in the market claiming to be one even if they are short on certain features. So before you fall for these claims hook, line, and sinker, it is best that you know what a luxury vehicle really is and what is not.

Leather seats and an exceptional stereo system don't make a car a luxury vehicle. Keep in mind that luxury cars are not built overnight. More than the make and model of the car, these vehicles require years of planning and design. And so the companies that are worthy to release luxury cars are only those who have been in the automotive industry for a long time. It would be an added plus it they have already proven their worth in that particular line.

Lexus cars and Rolls and Royce are good examples of luxury cars. But before you go ahead and purchase these vehicles, you've got to ask yourself if you can afford it. If you can't, would you settle for a second-hand? Luxury car manufacturers imply that if you're asking for the price of a luxury vehicle prior to buying it, chances are, you can't afford it. So unless you can go up to a million on one luxury car, it is not worth asking whether or not you should buy one or not.

Why do you have to buy a luxury car in the first place? This is the most important question of all. Would like to buy one because you want to look better off among your friends and colleagues? Would you like to impress somebody? Or do you simply like to own one, park it around the house, and pull it off the garage whenever you want to arrive in style at some place? While these are all good reasons to buy luxury cars, they are not sufficient enough to justify the price of these vehicles. Even if you're buying a second-hand, it is still advisable that you go for a brand new sedan that performs better than a run-down BMW.

Luxury cars are expensive because they have lots of extras. For one thing, driving these cars is a lot more comfortable than driving anything else. The cabin is very comfortable and it is a quiet ride all the time. You'll never hear the noise of the engine as you drive it. Also, the body of the car is impeccable. No flaws or inferior materials used whatsoever. Luxury cars are cars made for the king. And that's why they're priced for the king too.

Maintaining such cars can be a pain in the pocket as well. This is yet another point to consider when buying luxury cars. Are you prepared to buy twice as much gas? Would you have the time and the means to leave the car at an expensive car care center for regular checkups? Keep in mind that your cash out would not be over after the purchase the car. Expect to spend more as you go along.

Luxury Car Features | Buying a Hybrid Luxury Car

A Hybrid luxury car is a great alternative to other high-end vehicles. A luxury vehicle like a BMW is a great way to show off your sense of style. But with a Hybrid automobile you will also be contributing to the environment as well as showing off your sense of style.

Why a Hybrid?

Hybrids are an economic way to customize your monthly spending. Instead of paying a huge car payment you will enjoy a small payment and even smaller gas bill. Toyota, Honda, and many other automotive brands are now offering hybrid vehicles to meet all their customer needs.

The customer's specifications can be matched exactly and there are just as many personalized aspects to a hybrid vehicle. Vehicle customizing can be as simple as a certain kind of leather on the seats, or as complex as a video monitoring system.

Women and Hybrids

More and more women are interest in acquiring a luxury car. These women enjoy a motor vehicle that they can show off in. They may not want the vehicle for its customized engine performance. Instead, they are looking for the overall appeal of the vehicle. Hybrids often make the perfect choice for a woman. These cars are still aesthetically appealing and they also are environmentally friendly.

Some Custom Luxury Car Problems

Many people who are getting a customized luxury car or van may find it difficult to wait so long for their vehicle. This is often a big deterrent for people who are trying to decide to customize their vehicle or not. It is hard to say you will wait 8-weeks for a customized vehicle when you can get a regular one right away.

Another problem that many people have with a customized vehicle is the pricing. Although most people who want to have a vehicle customized are not too worried about the price, the fact is that customization can run in the thousands of dollars.

Making Your Luxury Vehicle Purchase

A regular person off the street is not likely to ask for customization on a vehicle. The expense is very large and often very similar to the regular stock upgrades that the person can get.

Hybrid vehicles as well as luxury vehicles are a great way to show off your personal sense of style. When you own one of these types of vehicles then you will always take pride in your car. You will show off all the custom features you had incorporated to make it feel more like your own vehicle.

A hybrid car is an economical choice with today's rising gas prices. Even the luxury models will end up being a great choice when you start seeing all the saving you will have just on gas every month. Remember to compare prices when you are purchasing a luxury car. Not all dealerships are created equally, so you will have to find a dealership that can offer you the level of support you need throughout your vehicle purchase.

A custom luxury car is the dream of almost everyone, but even if you know which car you want -- what is the best way to get it? For numerous articles and resources designed to get you in your dream car NOW visit us at: http://www.customluxurycar.com/

Luxury Cars 2010 | The 2010 Ford Mustang

Like previous model years, the 2010 Ford Mustang ranges from inexpensive and unrefined, to moderately expensive and highly refined. Basic V-6 models remain largely untouched and still offer a stiff ride with a less than ideal steering system. High-end models are more reminiscent of luxury cars, except that they are still noticeably pony cars with a lot of power. Basic models are great for consumers looking to break into the performance car market without spending a lot of money, while high-end models will impress even the toughest critics.

2010 Ford Mustang cars have been revamped both outside and in. Larger wheels are the standard on all models, with more power for GT models, the addition of stability control as standard options on all models as well. Though still unrefined, handling has been improved slightly in basic models, and handling changes are very noticeable with GT models. High-end GT packages have a new suspension system that was originally made for the discontinued Bullit engines of the '09 season.

Engines available still include the aging V-6 4.0 liter engine, which although it is getting old, still puts out an amazing amount of power. Basic models are equipped with the V-6 and it starts at a much lower price than V-8 equipped models. Compared with the lower models from the re-introduced Chevy Camaro, consumers may find that all around quality is lacking in Ford's base models. Where the V-6 cars excel however is body styling and interior quality. Not just high end models benefit from the complete overhaul given to these pony cars.

GT models are the only logical choice for consumers who can afford and want a true luxury style powerhouse. The available V-8 engine with an additional 15 horsepower compared with the previous season. The enhanced suspension tuning has meant that the car is even more fun for drivers. Compared with it's closest competitor, the Chevy Camaro SS, the 2010 Ford Mustang is slightly smaller and a lot more nimble. Even the Dodge Challenger can't offer the responsive handling that the original pony car easily puts out.

Each engine is offered with two different trim packages. There is the V-6, V-6 premium, GT, and GT premium. Basic models come with a few accessories, with a CD player and full power accessories offered on the premium edition. GT models come with a great choice of interior upholstery and dashboard styling. GT premiums offer just every luxury a consumer could want, and the price tag certainly doesn't let them forget it.

Safety ratings are very impressive as well. Both side and frontal tests show that the Mustang is perfect in each category. The front side airbags and standard stability control certainly make this a much safer vehicle than previous model years. The addition of 4 wheel anti lock disc brakes also only adds to the safety offered to drivers and passengers. Fuel economy ranges from 16 mpg city to 24 mpg highway. Of course the smaller V-6 gets the best numbers, while high end models equipped with a V-8 get less.

The overhauled 2010 Ford Mustang is still an eye catching pony car that offers a lot of power. Fortunately, Ford has decided to offer a lot more performance capabilities with that power in the form of much needed suspension updates. Perhaps the best part of these cars is that they truly offer something for everybody. Consumers on a budget can own a performance model, and those who want only the best can get their own model of Mustang. Expect the 'Stang to remain the most popular American pony car.

Luxury Cars 2010 | 2010 Range Rover Sport

The 2010 Range Rover Sport builds on its predecessor's impeccable pedigree, and now comes with two new powerplants, a 375 horsepower LR-V8 5.0 liter, naturally aspirated engine, as well as a supercharged version that puts out a mammoth 510 horsepower! In India, you have the option of the 3.0 liter V6 diesel and the 5.0 liter supercharged petrol. And believe me, 510bhp in car such as this, or any car for that matter, is a lot!

These engines were developed in conjunction with Jaguar, and are touted to be lighter and more efficient than the previous generation units. The new naturally aspirated RR Sport can hit 100km/h in a very spritely 7.4 seconds, while the supercharged variant takes just 6.0 seconds - Sport indeed. Both LR-V8 engines are mated to the ZF HP28 six- speed automatic transmission.

This time, we got a chance to sample the naturally aspirated version of the new Range Rover Sport - driving it from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and back, with a mild off-road excursion at a beach on California's glorious Pacific coast.

In terms of styling, the 2010 Range Rover Sport retains the earlier versions clean cut design, The 2010 update does, however, include LED headlamps, combined with a new two-bar grille, revised front bumpers and widened fenders. At the rear, new light clusters, and a revised bumper design mirror the smoother front-end. With its muscular squat stance, the Range Rover Sport certainly has great road presence, and looks just as purposeful whether it's cruising on Hollywood Boulevard or playing in the sand.

According to the company, the interiors have been redesigned using higher quality materials and soft-touch finishes to create an environment that's 'truly worthy of the Range Rover brand: With infinitely adjustable leather seats, tactile, well laid out switches, the interiors of the Range Rover Sport are truly fantastic, and arguably better than most other luxury SUV's on the road today. In fact, the redesign does bring the cabin of the Sport much more in line with its ultra luxurious bigger brother - the original Range. Special mention, also, must be made of the Harmon Kardon surround sound system that boasts 480 watts of power. Its 14 individual speakers produce a dramatic 3D effect from a iz-channel digitally controlled amplifier that makes for outstanding acoustics.

The Sport has a new virtual instrument panel that has the latest Thin-Film- Transistor (TFT) LCD technology that provides exceptional clarity of driver information. Key information found in the instrument cluster includes air suspension height settings, hill descent control and speed settings, as well as Hi/Lo gear ratio selection. The new display certainly makes vehicle data more accessible and easier to read for the driver.

Range Rovers have always been known for their off-road ability. In the new model, the famed Terrain Response system boasts a series of improvements - including improved performance when tackling challenging terrain like sand or large rocks. For soft sand conditions, a 'sand launch control' mode makes for a noticeably easier drive-away. New, speed- dependent wheel-slip targets for the traction control system permit only very limited initial wheel-slip - helping to prevent the wheels digging down into the sand. The system also has an improved rock crawl program for better control while traversing boulders or driving through rocky terrain.

You really have to experience the effortless off-road ability of these vehicles to truly believe it. This particular Range Rover Sport wasn't able to show its full off-road potential however, as it was hampered by massive rims and low profile tarmac tires, which prevented us from taking the Sport into the larger dunes - so we rented some ATV's, and went dune bashing with those instead.

The on-road biased rubber aside, the Sport has an Integrated Body Frame (IBF) chassis that provides the best of both worlds - the strength of a ladder frame chassis, allowing it true off-road capability, as well as the rigidity of a monocoque, giving it good on-road manners. On the road, the new 375 horsepower V8 engine is smooth, and has plenty of torque, which makes for brisk acceleration. This naturally aspirated engine is just 15 horsepower shy of the previous editions supercharged powerplant. And yet, this engine is more efficient than the supercharged car that we tested last year - nonetheless, we could only manage 18 mpg (8 kmpl), which makes for frequent stops at the pump on a long journey. Nevertheless, on long drives, the Sport is an effortless cruiser - the gearing is perfect, and the engine has enough power in reserve to blitz past slower traffic. The extensive use of aluminum in the engine, transmission case, and body panels reduces weight up front and ensures that the car excels, beyond belief, on tight twisting roads - where it feels light and agile. Steering response also is improved on the Range Rover Sport with the stiffening of the front suspension lower arm forward bushing - enhancing the sense of driver involvement at higher speeds.

With its new powerplant, and subtle interior and exterior enhancements, the new Range Rover Sport builds on the previous cars' inherent strengths to offer an even more luxurious and powerful, yet efficient, package.

The new engine is so capable that it becomes hard to justify spending the extra moolah to go in for the supercharged version, which begs the obvious question-why isn't the naturally aspirated 5.0 litre available in india? Nevertheless, with its impeccable looks, the Range Sport has immense road presence and commands respect.Plus the car's versatile and equipped for anything you can throw its way.

And with Jaguar Land Rover sales on the upswing,it seems that Tata motors has reason to smile once again. Moreover,it appears that the initials fears, held by some detractors, that JLR products won't be able to incorporate the latest technology under Indian ownership have been proven completely unfounded by this desirable and modern SUV.Put simply,it's now even more brilliant on-road,and still exceptional off-road as well.
